Rescuing Wild Animals and Living to Tell About It
by Bob Anderson

Anyone who really loves animals has, at some point in their life, probably wished they could do more to help animals in distress. It’s very difficult to watch an animal suffer and not be able to help. Fortunately there are people who have learned how to help and are more than willing to teach anyone interested in participating in the rehabilitation of sick and injured animals.

Rescuing Wild Animals and Living to Tell About It is a thorough and informative guide that shows readers the ins and outs of the process of helping animals in need. It is also an excellent field guide for the animal control professional who mostly interacts with wild animals. Included are safety tips when dealing with the animal, what to do in case you get bit, and the most suitable ways to transport different animals. Learning more about our furry friends will help us co-exist in this wonderful world in which we live.

About the Author

Bob Anderson has been studying and enjoying wild animals since he was a small child. The son of an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and wildlife photographer, he has been subjected to many years of wildlife interaction.

For several years, he worked as a reserve game conservation officer for the state of New Mexico, where he became interested in caring for wild animals in distress. He volunteered at a rehabilitation center for eight years before he opened his own rehab and rescue center.

He and his wife own and operate a trapping company, where they trap and relocate pesky animals, and a nonprofit rehabilitation corporation, with five locations, where they rescue animals, rehabilitate animals, and provide educational programs to the public. They also operate an animal sanctuary, where they house non-releasable and exotic animals.

Bob has been in the animal business since 1986 and is a member of the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Association, the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council, the National Opossum Society, Australian Animal Protection Council, and the Australian Marsupial Association.

In addition, he has authored several books on wild animals and operates a statewide animal rescue training academy for training animal care volunteers.
